Monthly Update | September 2021

Summer temperatures might be cooling down to make way for the fall, but things are decidedly heating up in our inter-office prank war and with some of the incredible projects we worked on this month.

This month’s update features a few stories about some incredible men and women of faith. First up is Father Emil Kapaun, who ministered to soldiers in the Korean War, died in a prison camp, received the Medal of Honor, and is now on the path to sainthood. His remains were recently located and identified, so we flew to Hawaii to document the military transfer of his remains back to the Diocese of Wichita.

Next up, check out a sneak peek of a new video podcast we shot for Abiding Together, one of the most popular Catholic podcasts out there, hosted by Michelle Benzinger, Sister Miriam James Heidland, and Heather Khym. (It will also offer some friendly competition for our Poco a Poco podcast!)

We are also excited to announce an original Spirit Juice production – The Soul of A Champion: The Gil Hodges Story. This film documents the life and career of Catholic baseball player Gil Hodges, who helped the Dodgers win a World Series in both Brooklyn and Los Angeles, helped the 1969 Mets win a World Series against all odds, but is still somehow not in the Baseball Hall of Fame. We hope this documentary will shed light on both his impressive baseball career as well as his admirable leadership and personal life. We also hope it will help him get voted into the Hall when he is on the ballot again in December!

Lastly, check out a preview of our summer interns’ passion projects. Aside from giving the interns valuable experience on our projects and shoots, our internship program allows us to mentor up-and-coming young filmmakers by letting them use our resources to complete a project of their choice before leaving the Spirit Juice nest and taking flight into their careers. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch them grow in their skills and passion!

Thank you as always for supporting our work. If you or someone you know would like to work with us, please do not hesitate to contact us!
